the project
There are many steps when setting out to capture a wedding. From sitting down with the soon-to-be-married couple before the wedding date, to filming, editing, and delivering the final product. I was a second shooter for this wedding video and lead video editor on this project.
Let me walk you through my process!
the prep
We schedule a time to talk about all of the wedding details and what to expect. Going over all of the details beforehand is a crucial step when planning a wedding shoot. It allows the client to ask questions which builds trust and keeps everyone on the same page.
the shoot
Wedding shoots range anywhere from 6-12 hours. Depending on the package, we will include interviews and sometimes drone footage. After the shoot is over, we create numerous local and cloud backups for redundancy.
the edit
Our team uses Adobe Premiere Pro for video editing and color grading. For editing audio, we use Adobe Audition and occasionally use After Effects for more intricate video editing capabilities.
As we go through each video clip, we mark in and out points to determine what sections of the footage we like best. We will often record the same shot multiple times while making small changes to give the editor plenty of options when sifting through the footage.
After compiling the timeline with a story that best represents the couple's entire wedding day, we start the color grading and color correction process while making minor revisions to the video timeline.
the result
It's time to tell the couple the good news! Hearing the excitement from the married couple is always a great joy. Couples receive a digital copy of the wedding video and we always archive the final product along with the footage.
